The James M. Cox Foundation provides philanthropic support for nonprofit organizations in communities where Cox Enterprises operates. Funding priorities include conservation and environment with investments in biodiversity, habitat protection, and restoration of natural areas such as rivers, land, and endangered species, along with parks and green spaces; early childhood education and literacy programs that support teachers and help children build strong reading skills; initiatives that expand access to healthy food, affordable housing, and support services to helpĀ people improve their lives; and programs that improve access to quality healthcare and patient experience. Eligible applicants are federally tax-exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code with non-private foundation status or equivalent government entities under Section 170(c)(1), located in U.S. communities where Cox Enterprises or its subsidiaries operate, and must have an existing meaningful relationship with a Cox business in their location, as organizations without an existing Cox relationship will not be considered.
